Privacy Policy
Between Us is built for two people in one relationship. This policy explains what data exists, what can be shared, and what remains private. It is product information, not legal advice.
1) Who we are
Between Us is operated by Betul Usku. Contact: hello@betweenusapp.net.
2) Two accounts, one shared space
Each person signs in with their own account. A shared relationship space exists only after both people connect. You can leave the shared space at any time, and quick exit can sign you out immediately on the current device.
3) Privacy levels in the app
Every relevant entry can be assigned one of three privacy levels:
- Private to me: only you (and private AI features you allow) can use this.
- AI may use discreetly: the AI may use coarse meaning, never your direct words or identity.
- Shared with us: visible inside the shared relationship space.
4) What a partner can and cannot see
Partner-visible data is reduced before sharing. For example, private check-ins do not reveal your raw note. At discreet level, only coarse signal buckets can be shared. Raw private conversations and private survey answers are not exposed as partner-readable text.
5) AI usage and consent
AI features are optional and consent-based. Content is not sent to the third-party model provider until you explicitly allow AI data use in the app. You can change this in Privacy & AI settings. The product is relationship intelligence, not therapy or clinical care.
6) Shared summaries, approvals, and disputes
Shared records requiring mutual agreement are only accepted after both members approve. A disputed memory does not become an accepted shared fact in the relationship story.
7) Data we collect
- Account details such as email and display name.
- Relationship setup details you choose to provide.
- App content you create, including check-ins, plans, and conversations.
- Device permissions you grant for specific actions (for example, camera, photos, calendar write access).
- Optional purchase/subscription status when paid features are enabled in your build.
8) Infrastructure and storage
Account and relationship data is stored using Google Firebase.
Authenticated AI calls are handled via secure backend functions in
europe-west1. We do not sell your personal content.
9) Retention and deletion
You can delete some items in-app, sign out, and leave a shared space. For account deletion requests, email hello@betweenusapp.net from your account email. Backup retention may continue briefly after deletion.
10) Children
Between Us is not directed to children under 17.
11) Safety notice
Between Us is not an emergency service. If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
12) Changes to this policy
If data handling changes materially, this page and the date above are updated.
